Author Guidelines

The Journal accepts only manuscripts that have not been published elsewhere and are not submitted elsewhere for publication. By submitting the manuscript the author/s guarantee that the work has not been published elsewhere.

Articles in the Bulgarian Journal of International Economics and Politics are published under the terms of the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 International Public License. Authors are free to share and adapt their materials but must give appropriate credit to the BJIEP publication by providing a link/DOI number of their article and indicate whether changes are made to the text.

At submission, the manuscript must come with a Declaration of Authenticity and Authorship by the author/s.

In case of co-authorship, the co-author who submits the manuscript becomes the Corresponding Author and the BJIEP Editorial Board directs all correspondence to him/her.

The Journal accepts only manuscripts in English language. Authors are responsible for the proof-reading and language editing of their manuscripts before submitting them.

Authors submit their manuscripts in electronic format (.doc or .docx) at bjiep@unwe.bg. Manuscripts should be formatted according to the manuscript submission template. Manuscripts which do not conform to the template are returned to their authors for revision.

The authenticity of manuscripts accepted for reviewing is checked with StrikePlagiarism. The BJIEP Editorial Board does not accept for publication texts that have over 20% coincidences with already published texts.

The submitted manuscripts are subjected to double-blind anonymous peer review. The authors are highly advised to get acquainted with the peer review form and check the criteria upon which the reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscripts. Upon receiving the reviews, the BJIEP Editorial Board decides whether a manuscript is to be published, returned for revision, or rejected. Authors are informed about the outcome and receive the reviews.

The authors are not required to pay any fee for the acceptance, review process and publication of their manuscripts.

Authors are not entitled to free printed copies of the journal issue where their manuscript was published. Authors can order printed copies at the UNWE Publishing Complex site.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned to authors.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in .doc or .docx format and has been formatted according to the BJIEP manuscript submission template.
  • A completed Declaration of Authenticity and Authorship is attached to the submission email.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript is written in English and has been proof-read and language-edited by the author(s) before submission.
  • The author(s) confirm that the manuscript does not contain plagiarism and that all sources are properly cited.
